Kelly’s Day Out is a mash up adventure story, inspired by such classics as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, among others – all modernised for a contemporary audience. Our heroine is Kelly Samantha Jones, a naturally happy 12-year-old girl, who is bullied outrageously by her much older brothers, Peter and Paul, day after day after day.
One morning, when she’s very, very frustrated with everything and has had just enough, she meets a large rabbit who gives her a present because it isn’t her birthday. It’s an old, dirty travel bag that is always empty except when she really, really needs something. Then, and only then, the right thing is always in it.
Kelly’s Day Out is a highly interactive comic play about chance and the consequences of simple actions.
One day Kelly gets on the wrong bus on her way into town. Except, of course, it’s a really special bus, driven by Bill and Ben; two very odd drivers, that can take you “somewhere, anywhere, everywhere you want to go” – whether to the past, present or future, where you can meet anyone – whether real or fictional.
The problem is deciding what to do, where to go, who to see. Choices. And consequences.
So, what adventures does Kelly have? Watch and see in Kelly’s Day Out; a fast-moving interactive comedy with music and songs where the audience has to actively help Kelly make her way home safely.
