Since 1987

We are a family run professional touring theatre company; with over 35 years of experience, offering original English language plays to students of English of all ages and levels: for primary, secondary, high school and adult learners. ETC was founded and created by Michael Harry. 

In over 35 years, ETC has written and produced 47 original plays, given more than 15,000 performances, and been seen by over two million people across Europe…so far.

Michael Harry grew up in the Lake District in the North of England. He has a BA in English, Drama and Linguistics and an MA in Applied Linguistics.

Before setting up ETC, Michael worked as a journalist, a professional actor on stage and on screen, a teacher, a teacher trainer and a course book writer for students learning English as a second language.

In1987, his daughter Tess was born. That same year, he founded ETC English Theatre Company.

Tess grew up surrounded by it all. She studied Psychology in Barcelona, lived in London where she worked at The School of Life and trained in stage direction at the RCSSD, then returned to Barcelona — and to ETC.

Michael and Tess now run the company together.

In March 2020, as many other touring and theatre companies, we were hit hard. All tours were cancelled. Everything stopped. So, there we were. All in lockdown in a town near Barcelona.

And we decided to make a leap and start something new, something we’d had in mind for many years, but never managed to find the time to do. 
Try to do what we do, but on film.
