What’s Up comprises of 9 filmed original monologues especially created for English language learners from 16 and over. The themes of the monologues are both relevant and of interest to older teenagers and young adults. Many are a further development of subjects in some of our Stage plays. If you are one of our regular customers, you may recognise a character or two.

Some subjects are comic, some are dramatic, and a few deal with very sensitive subjects such as bullying, body dysmorphia, alcoholism. The others include online pressure, dealing with parents as you grow up, gaming, the difficulty of deciding what to do, how to resolve a problem, a difficulty, an embarrassment, something they have to do, something they regret having done or something they’re looking forward to doing.

Written by our founder, Michael Harry, who writes virtually all our stage plays, they are all, like our live plays, relevant to our intended public, honest, and humanly positive. All are comic in part. Even the sensitive ones have humour in them and are dealt with empathetically. We are actually proud that we have been told this by teachers when we tested them out.

There is a full accompanying class pack for each specific monologue, divided by language level with plenty of choice of activities for the teacher to choose for their particular classes comprising of comprehension and further interpretation, language work and further activities. All prepared with care and understanding, especially the subjects that are sensitive.
